Breakout sessions will last 60 minutes and will occur on our second day of the convention, Saturday, Nov. 15.
While proposals are welcome from educational organizations and others, school board members and superintendents are given priority in the selection process.
We encourage you to share your experience and expertise with your peers, even if you don’t consider yourself an expert or have all the solutions. Chances are, your district is tackling some of the same challenges as others!
Tips
Proposals are likely to be accepted if they include any of the following:
- Pays attention to the roles of a school board member.
- Includes thoughts on leadership, service, or advocacy.
- Mentions specific learning outcomes for the audience.
- Offers insight into obstacles or challenges faced.
- Includes an educational leader and/or student in the presentation.
- Provides data and a measurement of success.
- Discusses action steps or moments for reflection.
Proposals including or related to the following topics will be given priority:
- Leadership development
- Budgeting process or school finance
- Policy work
- Board governance
- Communications work
- Districtwide initiatives or programs
- Districtwide data utilization
- Board leadership teams
- Bond campaigns
- Strategic planning
- Mission, vision and value work
- Districtwide parent and community involvement
