McInnes Group informing members about health care settlement with BCBS

KASB’s health consulting partner, McInnes Group, is informing members that if you were covered by a Blue Cross Blue Shield or Anthem health insurance plan at any time between the dates of Feb. 7, 2008 through Oct. 16, 2020, you may be eligible to receive a payment from a class action settlement.

The $2.67 billion settlement stems from a lawsuit that claimed BCBC violated anti-trust laws to limit competition in selling health insurance. Defendants denied the claims and a settlement has been reached. After attorney’s fees, administrative expenses and other costs, the net settlement fund is estimated to be $1.9 billion. BCBS plans provide coverage for approximately 106 million nationwide.

Valid claims may receive cash payment under the settlement. For more information on the settlement and how to file a claim, please visit www.BCBSSettlement.com. The easiest way to file a claim is by clicking on the “FILE A CLAIM” button on the www.BCBSSettlement.com website.

To file a claim, employers will need basic information including group number, dates of coverage, and plan name. Employers will be asked to report contribution percentages or use the default method.  As employees are eligible to participate in the Settlement and receive a payment for their estimated portion of premiums, employers are not required to share any recovery with employees.  McInnes Group, Inc. and affiliate organizations are unable to file a claim on your behalf.
