The Kansas Senate on Wednesay approved HB 2039, which would require students pass a civics test before graduating high school.
The measure was amended to add that students also would need to take and pass a financial literacy course. The bill now goes to the House for consideration. KASB opposes the measure, saying curiculum and graduation requirements are the purview of the State Board of Education and local school boards.
