 Hearing tomorrow on alternative teacher licensure bill (3/12/2014) 
   Senate Ways & Means to hold hearing Thursday, 10:30 on SB 430, bill allowing certain teachers to be licensed without completing traditional teacher training.
 First innovative school districts selected (2/27/2014) 
   Concordia USD 333 and McPherson USD 418 were selected as the first two innovative districts under a new state law on Wednesday.
 Amended drug test and fingerprint bill advanced (2/26/2014) 
   Senate Education recommended SB 335 after removing requirement that results of school employee drug tests be sent to State Board and made available to prospective employers.

   Delegates approved policy recommendations for improving ed outcomes, focusing on raising educational standards, providing suitable finance & strengthening local school leadership.
 Preliminary Legislative Committee Report (9/4/2013) 
   The preliminary report of the 2013 KASB Legislative Committee, as adopted at its meeting on Aug. 24, is now available.
 Board meeting; legislative status update (2/14/2013) 
   Because of anticipated upcoming legislation, the KASB Board of Directors met in special session last night to provide clarification to staff on the intent of the association’s position on teacher due process rights.
 Governor's School Efficiency Report media release (1/22/2013) 
   Governor Sam Brownback has released the report from the Governor's school efficiency task force. KASB will provide additional analysis and commentary later today.
