Nov. 1, 2012 My Voice National Student Mock Election
KASB encourages schools to participate in the 2012 My Voice National Student Mock Election. The purpose of the National Student Mock Election is to educate students about the duties of citizenship and to inspire then to exercise their right to vote. By helping to build an informed electorate, we indeed will strengthen our democracy.
The 2012 My Voice National Student Mock Election will take place on November 1, 2012. Students will be able to start voting on Thursday, October 25, 2012. The mock ballots will include candidates for President, U.S. Senate and the U.S House of Representatives, as well as key national topic and social issues. Through combined efforts with the Pearson Foundation My Voice initiative, the classroom curriculum will be supported by a new media project to survey students on issues of national importance leading up to the federal and state 2012 elections.
Every Kansas student, their teachers and their parents are encouraged to participate in the 2012 My Voice National Student Mock Election. You can start by registering at www.nationalmockelection.org. The website is a great source of information about the process!
