KASB supports State Board vision statement
KASB is a proud supporter of the Kansas State Board of Education’s new vision statement — Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.
KASB believes fulfilling this vision will require recruiting partners, funding schools equitably and adequately and increasing the bonds of trust between families, communities and policymakers. KASB believes local school boards are uniquely qualified to play a leadership role in these efforts.
The new vision statement was selected after numerous town hall meetings conducted by Kansas Education Commissioner Randy Watson. At those meetings, Kansans overwhelmingly said more emphasis was needed on so-called soft skills, such as conscientiousness and collaboration, for students to be successful.
Watson and other education officials have said now the state needs to work implementing the changes needed to accomplish the vision.
